Welcome to JABA Architect, an historic building consultancy located in Cumbria and working for English Heritage, building preservation and civic trusts, church groups, local authorities and private owners in Cumbria, Northumberland and Durham. Established in 1991 to repair and care for our built heritage we are passionate about traditional buildings.

JABA is lead by John Barnes, an architect accredited in building conservation who is on the register of approved consultants to apply for grant funding and oversee conservation projects funded by English Heritage. A member of the RIBA, and IHBC, he is also a member of SPAB and EASA, and a fieldworker for the Ancient Monuments Society, representing them on an advisory panel assessing listed building applications at Newcastle City Council.
